Tip of the Iceberg IMG_2358
Bransfield Strait, Antarctic Peninsula
The iceberg cruises in a zodiac are always fun. So many different shapes and sizes you really need to be on the water to appreciate them fully. These two icebergs really stood out amongst the rest. The overcast conditions really enhancing the white and blue tones. It was snowing at the time, if you look closely at the water, you can see streaks of snow. As the iceberg slowly breaks up it shifts its centre of gravity, as seen by the various lines in the iceberg revealing where the waterline was previously. Wind, waves, and heating from the sun eroding them away, creating magnificent floating sculptures. We did see one iceberg roll over which was spectacular but scary too as 2/3 of the iceberg is underwater, hence why you need to always remain safe a distance from them.
