The weather phenomena called PSC (Polar Stratospheric Clouds) also known as Nacreous clouds. These play a central role in the formation of the ozone hole in both Antarctica and the Arctic. At heights approximately 25kms (80’000ft) above the earth surface at temperatures below approximately -78°c. Most likely to be visible when the sun is 1°-6° below the horizon. The sun’s rays shine on the minute water droplets causing different colours to regular clouds, distinctive luminescent appearance, and common mother of pearl iridescent colours.
