Davis Station, Antarctica
Wondering along the shoreline of Davis Station I came across this small ice formation that would have once been part of a glacier, then iceberg, now a growler. I thought it would make an amazing photo with the sun shining through the clear ice with hints of blue and yellow. The clear ice means less bubbles and more compressed ice. This iceberg would have cooled very slowly, allowing most of the bubbles to escape. During the long summer days the sun would slowly melt it away. It wasn’t until I was going through the photos a few days later I spotted the outline of a penguin carved out in the ice. Can you spot it?
