Woop Woop airport near Davis Station, Antarctica

The LC-130 Hercules operated by the New York Air Guard preparing to land on the groomed snow/ice runway. Woop Woop is located on the plateau (ice cap) approximately 40kms from Davis Station. At an altitude of approximately 350m above sea level. Looking back behind the aircraft you can see right down to the ocean with large icebergs floating away. Part of Operation Deep Freeze the US Air Force collaborate with other countries to deliver expeditioners and supplies across the continent. I had the pleasure and an experience of a lifetime flying with them from Wilkins Runway near Casey Station across to Woop Woop.
