The sheer size of these tabular icebergs is incredible. Not to mention the boulders sitting on top of it. Icebergs can appear many different colours, ranging from white, blue, green, black, and even clear. As the snow and ice comes down the glacier it is compressed and can pick up rocks and algae along the way. Depending on the level of compression will depend on how many air bubbles are in the ice. If there are a lot of bubbles and snow particles all wavelengths of light are scattered, and the iceberg will appear white. Less bubbles means red wavelengths of light are absorbed with only light blue being scattered resulting in a blue colour. Jade or Green icebergs can be formed by seawater and a higher algae content within.
