Prydz Bay, Davis Station, Antarctica
The majestic emperor penguins of Antarctica. Standing at approximately 1.4m tall, they are the largest penguins. Juvenile emperor penguins do not have any colour and are grey in comparison to the adults. The age can be roughly determined by the deep/vibrant colour patch on their head. This group of was in transit to Amada Bay where several thousand emperor penguins go to breed every year. Potentially never seen a human being in their life, they are very inquisitive creatures so they approached us for a closer look before moving on.
